Consultants & Golf Fitness Trainers

To help our students develop and become the best golfers they can be, we sometimes need to offer specialist help. Which is why we have ties to a wide range of consultants, physios, sports therapists and golf fitness trainers. By outsourcing to specialists, it allows us to create a truly comprehensive golf coaching service, leaving no stone unturned.

Golf Fitness Training

The most common external consultant that we use is the golf fitness trainer. Golf was once considered to be a leisurely sport. But as it has developed, the golf swing has become a very high-speed athletic movement. It uses the majority of muscles in your body, either through movement or through stabilisation. This athletic movement is in addition to the distance that a golfer walks during a round. Over 18 holes this can be 5 or more miles. Which is why a players fitness, or lack of, can affect their ability to play well.

Aside from ensuring a player has the required fitness levels, we work on biomechanics and body movement to avoid injury. This leads to improved swing mechanics, greater and more efficient power and speed and ultimately optimised performance.

Players with muscle tightness, joint restriction or poor body mechanics can struggle to consistently execute their golf swings. This is where fitness training helps as it improves the players physical ability and allows them to swing more efficiently. Without good quality fitness training, over time, golfers may develop golf-related injuries or even aggravate pre-existing ones. Neck, shoulder, back, hand, wrist and elbow injuries are some of the common ones that we look to avoid.

Sports Therapy

Sports Therapists

We use local sports therapists to provide expert diagnosis for injuries and pain. By combining specialised techniques in breathing, stretching, manipulation and massage, they can achieve great results. This will facilitate a much faster and more efficient recovery from injury or even reduce the risk of future injury. It can even enhance a player’s performance where they are having niggles in a specific area. We use other specialist therapists, for example podiatrists, depending on the individual needs of the player.

Peak golf Performance

The goal of our therapists is to eliminate pain, increase mobility, improve flexibility, enhance balance and increase strength. By improving all of these a player will be better prepared to achieve their peak golf performance. To help our players achieve this, we have a 4-step process.

  1. Identify the biomechanics challenges that are impeding the players peak golf performance.
  2. Create a treatment plan to address the players specific injury or the deficit which is impacting their golf game.
  3. Provide manual therapy to ensure healing or improvement.
  4. Provide therapeutic exercises to achieve long-term improvement or recovery.
